Over the Edge is Your Next Fundraising Event
Over the Edge is a special events company that provides signature events for non-profit organizations throughout the United States and Canada, with emerging markets in Central and South America, along with other parts of the World. Participants raise donations for a non-profit in exchange for the once-in-a-lifetime opportunity to rappel Over the Edge of a local high-rise building.
Over the Edge was founded with a 10-year-goal to help non-profit organizations around the world raise 50 million dollars. We are proud to announce that to-date, we have helped raise approximately 33 million dollars.
The History of Over the Edge
FitPro Lifestyle Consultants' President Paul Griffith had a vision – a vision of sending his adventure racers rappelling down from the highest building in Halifax, Nova Scotia, Canada: 1801 Hollis and Duke.
The Early Days: 1801 Drop Zone™
In 2003, Paul eased the mind of John Morehouse, Vice President of CREIT Management Ltd, with his style, persuasiveness and of course, his insurance policies. He convinced John to take a leap of faith. John felt all the tenants of the 1801 Hollis building should be given the chance to rappel before the adventure racers and to his surprise, more than 20 daring individuals jumped at the chance of a lifetime. After their huge initial success, Paul and John pooled their resources and connections and the following spring, 68 business professionals experienced the inaugural Drop Zone.
Halifax 1801 Drop Zone was extremely successful, with more than $74,000 raised in donations! The Abilities Foundation of Nova Scotia was the primary benefiting charity, with Rise and Shine and the Juvenile Diabetes Research Foundation benefiting from the money raised. Following this initial success, Easter Seals March of Dimes requested a nationwide campaign. The following year, Paul and his team delivered this event to nine new market places in Canada from Halifax to Victoria.
Over The Edge is born!
Since the early days of 1801Drop ZoneTM, Paul has taken the North American special event and non-profit community to new heights. By 2010 Over the Edge had grown to 47 events in a single season. With each successive year the Over the Edge event season swelled to over 150 events.
Today, Over the Edge has outgrown its own “season” and operates year around with multiple events occurring simultaneously throughout the western hemisphere. With over 500 successful events and more than 25,000 Edgers we continue with our mission to help raise $50 million in 10 years for nonprofits throughout North America.
We are now looking at global opportunities. We cannot achieve our philanthropic mission alone. We welcome support from the innovators and leaders in the non-profit, industrial rope and commercial real estate sectors

Over the Edge’s team is made up of professionals with backgrounds in event planning and the non-profit industry as well as industrial rope access experts with vast experience in the industrial rope access and the adventure industries.
Our signature event consistently raises six figures in revenue and grabs front-page headlines everywhere we go. With Over the Edge your nonprofit is always front and center! We take care of all technical aspects for the event including the insurance, professional staff and industrial equipment. We handle all technical aspects of the event and ensure all federal and state safety laws are strictly followed. Our experienced Account Management team guides you through the entire event planning process and provides you with the OTE Best Practices, helping to create your event logistics, recruitment and marketing strategies.
Members of our technical team spend much of their time in the oil and gas sector, performing building inspections or teaching courses. Safety and certification is important to all of us in the industry and makes for a better global environment, so when the opportunity presents itself, we engage our Level 3 SPRAT/IRATA certified technical experts to train fire fighters, police SWAT teams, window washers and recreational climbers among others.

We know what you’re thinking. Is it safe?
It goes without saying; safety is our TOP priority. Every Over the Edge event is set up as an industrial worksite and as a result, it is compliant with all federal and state OSHA Fall Protection Standards and State Laws. Further, our policies and procedures adhere to the best practices identified by the Society of Professional Rope Access Technicians or “SPRAT”. This counsel is a strict regulatory body that has regimented guidelines and safety protocols that far exceed the OSHA, Workers Compensation and state labor codes.
All Over the Edge sites have highly trained industrial rope specialists, all of which are IRATA or SPRAT certified. Each event site has a comprehensive Site Inspection & Safety Plan completed, and if every potential risk cannot be mitigated, then the site will not be approved by our Operations Manager.
